Quality Made FESTA (QM FESTA) in Genoa: A Pioneering Initiative Celebrating Territorial Identity and Sustainability

March 14, 2025, marks a significant milestone for Quality Made FESTA (QM FESTA), an ambitious program promoting regional identities and fostering sustainable development. The Auditorium of the Galata Maritime Museum in Genoa is hosting participants for a session of strategic reflection and planning.
Supported by the European INTERREG Italy-France Maritime program, this project unites five regions—Tuscany, Liguria, Sardinia, Corsica, and Var (Southern France)—to spotlight destinations steeped in traditions and hidden treasures, steering away from mass tourism. This meeting aims to conceptualize a novel tourism offering, bringing together 19 carefully curated fairs. These fairs were chosen for their strong identity, off-peak timing, public recognition, and potential to create synergies with local products and stakeholders.
Corsica, represented by Petra Patrimonia Corsica Cooperative in Bastia, the Fédération des Foires Rurales Agricoles et Artisanales de Corse (Federation of Rural Agricultural and Artisan Fairs of Corsica), and the Parc Naturel Régional de Corse (Regional Natural Park of Corsica), plays a leading role in this initiative. Iconic events such as A Fiera di a Castagna, U Mele in Festa, A Fiera di u Legnu e di a Furesta, and A Fiera di l’Alivu collaborate with QM FESTA to raise awareness about the significance of fairs in preserving local identity and culture, while simultaneously building organizational capacity with a focus on sustainability.
Through an innovative approach to tourism, QM FESTA prioritizes fairs with distinct identities, scheduled outside peak periods, to foster genuine immersion in an authentic and environmentally conscious Corsica. These initiatives not only invigorate the local economy but also strengthen community bonds in areas often challenged by depopulation.
